Profile Requirements
» Must be posted in the main CD, not a sub board. If you're able to post new topics in sub boards, tell a mod.
» Must have name, height, weight, species, and personality. Profiles that don't have those basics will be deleted and messaged to their posters. If you need to save a WIP that doesn't have those elements added yet, you can use a notepad document or message it to yourself.
» The name must be searchable in the title (the letters can't be separated by punctuation). While decorative text is allowed, it must be clear what the registered name is supposed to be.
» Users are strongly encouraged to consider readability on all skins when stylizing font; extremely light or extremely dark text may be hard to scan through.
» Separate characters that are going to be played as separate characters must have separate profiles; an NPC friend who will only be played with the actual character can be included in the character's profile.

Character Requirements
» Their height must be at or under the maximum height for the breed/species, and their weight must be reasonable. Please include their adult height/weight regardless of current age.
» Hybrids must be at least a few inches shorter and a few pounds lighter than their tallest species.
» Character accessories and history must fit within the forum 'verse; they cannot have glasses or be from New York or have magic powers or anything like that! Characters can be assumed to have basic dexterity, though, so they can have simple accessories (like, say, a rope tied around their neck) without ever having contact with humans.
» Unnatural color is allowed without limit. Go wild.
» No godmodding allowed; something like being over the maximum height limit must be mod-approved. If you want that, PM the mods with an informal application: why you want it, why you should get it, and why you're not just going to use it to cause trouble.
» No power playing allowed PERIOD; characters who have history with on-forum packs must have approval from pack alphas, and their players/owners must approve any involvement of on-forum characters.
Name rules: -- if a name is taken in the CD, you cannot freely use it and must ask permission to share it, UNLESS the player has not logged onto IDS in six months, the player has deleted their account on IDS, or the player has left IDS with a "leaving forever" post more than a week ago.
-- the person who "takes" a name in the CD is the only one who needs to be asked about sharing; people who ask to share it with them have no control over whether it should or shouldn't be shared again.
-- alternate spellings of a name (ex. "Jo" and "Joe") count as separate names.
-- when asking permission, if a character has been adopted out, ask their owner instead of their player whenever possible.
-- if your character has existed previously on the forum and isn't currently posted (ex. they were on an old forum and didn't make the move), they don't need to ask permission to use their own name. However, you cannot tell people currently using the same name to not use it.
-- characters in character trading have their names reserved for up to three months.
-- if you mail a person for permission and they do not reply to you for two weeks, you receive name permission.
-- if you ask a person and they decline to share a name with you, the only way you are allowed to share it is if that person explicitly changes their mind or leaves the forum altogether. Name permission rules are meant to encourage courtesy towards other players, not harassment or finding windows of inactivity in which to "snipe" permission-by-default.
-- if a character dies, its name is no longer reserved, as it obviously will not be used again. Players who have strong feelings against this are encouraged to post a new character with the same name. this used to be a rule and now it is not -- to check if a name is used, search the forum. *

User Requirements
» You do not have to wait for a profile to be accepted before being roleplayed, but if it needs corrections it can't be roleplayed until the issue is resolved. Characters cannot be roleplayed without profiles.
» When you edit your profile to fix an issue, please make a new post to "bump" the topic so a CDO knows it has been fixed.
» Please do not edit anything weird into a profile after it's been sorted; if you make significant changes or change any of the required pieces, you should PM a CDO with a link to make sure they're okay.
» If a profile needs to be deleted, PM a CDO with a link to it.
Reposting profiles: -- profiles that have already been posted can be reposted if the character has a new player or the original profile is not on the right persona. Don't repost a profile to "revamp" it; just edit it. Unnecessary reposts will be messaged to their players and deleted. -- when you repost a profile, you must say why it is being reposted and whether you want the old profile to be deleted (link to it if you do). -- if you have adopted a character from someone, make sure to be courteous and ask them first to see if they're okay with old info being deleted!
Minimodding: -- please do not "backseat moderate" other users on what their profiles need to have or change. -- a lot of the time people who minimod aren't even right -- and then the original poster gets confused -- and has two different people telling them two different things -- seriously pls don't do this -- thank you
Art usage: -- if you did not make it, specifically have it made for you, or have permission to use it (ex., a free-for-use template), you may not use it. If you don't know whether you can use something, the answer is no. -- always credit artists. -- photos fall under the same requirements. Deviantart is a good place for stock photos. -- characters do not have to have art and can definitely be posted without it. -- if you see someone use art that you don't think they have permission to use, please PM a CDO or a moderator.
Temp bans: -- if the same people consistently post profiles without following the rules, especially if they fail to correct them, or "spam" the CD with an enormous excess of bare-bones profiles, they may lose the privilege to create new characters.

Miscellaneous
» Be kind to other users.
» Did we forget to add a rule to this? Let us know, just in case.
» While this topic is intended as a one-stop rule depot, something not in here can still be disallowed if it is obviously harmful or disruptive.
» ^ Is what you're about to do going to upset people? Is it going to make lots of unnecessary work for organizers? Is it offensive? Probably don't do that.
